600th Anniversary of Battle of Agincourt

It was 600 years ago today- October 25th 1415- St. Crispin’s Day- that England’s King Henry V delivered a speech written for him by the yet-to-be- born future playwright William Shakespeare and then went on to defeat French forces at the Battle of Agincourt.

    Oh! 600th celebration already?
Odd enough not to realize how long that was …

Yes, it was a long time ago.

I remember a few years ago reading a story about how some students at King’s University College in London were enacting a mock medieval battle.

Two of the students got so into it, they injured themselves.

So they were rushed to hospital and were sitting in the waiting room with their wounds and medieval armour looking like knights of of old.

Some man who had been asleep on a stretcher in the waiting room suddenly woke up and when he saw the two wounded knights said to them, “Golly, I’ve heard the British National Health Service was slow but Good God! How long have you chaps been waiting?”. 😀

Didn’t the Battle of Agincourt spell the end of the feudal system?

    • Dracul Van Helsing said,

Yes, it was the beginning of the end of the feudal system.
