The Apparition

Stu Nichols was a reporter and news correspondent newly walking the Vatican beat.

He strolled through the Vatican Gardens waiting for the Cardinal he was to interview.

In the distance, he saw what looked to be a priest or monk standing by one of the bushes.

The monk or priest beckoned to him.

Stu approached.

The man had extremely long wild looking hair and a very long flowing beard.

As Stu approached, he noticed the Cross around the monk-priest’s neck was not a Crucifix or even a Latin rite Cross.

It was a Russian Orthodox style Cross.

The man also had the most hypnotic looking eyes he had ever seen.

Stu stopped in his tracks.

For he suddenly recognized the man.

From photos from history books in his student days at Oxford.

The Mad Monk.

Who helped pave the way for the fall of the Czar through his manipulations and control over the Russian Imperial Family.

The figure suddenly vanished into thin air.

“Good evening, Mr. Nichols,” the voice of Cardinal JM startled the reporter as the Vatican prelate approached from the side, “It looks like you’ve seen a ghost.”

How funny; I was just reading about Maria, Rasputin’s daughter, over at Atlas Obscura:

    • Dracul Van Helsing said,

Years ago I read Maria Rasputin’s biography of her father.

It made for interesting reading needless to say.

      Thanks for the link. πŸ™‚

      • Nicholas C. Rossis said,

I just found about it. I have to read it now πŸ™‚

      • Dracul Van Helsing said,

From what she said of her father’s personal philosophical and theological beliefs, I think he would have been a promoted and honoured guest on The Oprah Show if he had lived in today’s times.

      • Nicholas C. Rossis said,

Probably even a presidential nominee :b

      • Dracul Van Helsing said,

        Undoubtedly. πŸ˜€

  2. Hyperion said,

Oh My! Chris! You know, it’s possible he was looking for his obelisk, Penisaurus Rex. I’m wondering what kind of plans he has for it. I’m wondering if he hasn’t taken a liking to the author of 50 Shades or perhaps Kim Khardashian. I’m certain it isn’t Sherrielock Holmes as it would serve him no purpose cut into salami slices by her expert use of the sword.

    • Dracul Van Helsing said,

      Indeed. πŸ˜€

Avoid Sherrielock’s laser light sabre sword at all costs.

Yes, Rasputin no doubt heard about Osiris’ long lost severed phallus being found in the Vatican Archives and hope sprang eternal in Rasputin’s well roasted breast that the same might hold true for his own dearly departed organ. πŸ˜€

      • Hyperion said,

You know, it must be miserable wandering around wondering where the best part of your personality was mislaid.

      • Dracul Van Helsing said,

Yes, and as far as Rasputin went, that was definitely the most charming aspect of his personality. πŸ˜€

Last night, I wrote and posted another chapter about Osiris- who’s finally been re-united with a long lost friend.

      • Hyperion said,

It just keeps getting more and more interesting!

      • Dracul Van Helsing said,

Yes and as Ana and Sara have both noted about when characters take over one’s writing, I’ll be probably be as surprised as you are at what happens next: πŸ˜€

      • Hyperion said,

Lol! I think the Vampire Novel may run amok with the public imagination. Can’t wait to see the result! πŸ˜„

      • Dracul Van Helsing said,

        It should be interesting. πŸ˜‰
