Late For The Party

“Aren’t you ready yet?” The wife asked her husband, “we’re going to be late for the party. I’d like to be there before the clock strikes midnight and the New Year comes.”

“I’m almost finished this poem I’m writing, dear,” the husband smiled, “hold on.”

The wife looked at the clock, “Come on. Let’s go NOW. Your poem is not so important. It’s not as if people are going to be reciting or even remembering it for the next 200-odd years.”

“All right, dear,” the husband got up to get his coat.

The poem lay on his desk,

“Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind…
… we’ll take a cup of kindness yet for auld lang syne…”

-Robert Burns, 1788.

A nice touch Chris. Little did she know that all of Scotland would remember Mr. Burns for the next 200 years and probably longer. Slainte πŸ˜€

        Thanks, Daniel.

Glad the painting is up with the story.

After WordPress improved itself a couple of years back, I’m unable to insert photos or videos into the text of my Blog on my iPhone.

      • Hyperion said,

Do you have the WordPress app? What a pain!

      • Dracul Van Helsing said,

No, I don’t have any apps whatsoever on my phone (other than those already included when I bought it).

I’ve never downloaded any which probably explains why I don’t have to re- charge my battery all the time like I see other people doing who I venture to say probably have dozens maybe hundreds of apps on their smart phone.

      • Hyperion said,

That is quite an accomplishment to maintain your blog with only the native apps furnished with your iPhone. I have a menagirie of apps and the battery lasts for a week. The only thing that runs the battery down is the three hour phone calls from my 100 year old grandfather. He always has lots to say. πŸ˜€

When you live for a hundred years, you would have a lot to say. πŸ™‚

Yes, indeed. I enjoy him teling me how to rebuild the motor in a model A Ford truck. Not many people know how to do that from memory. He’s living history.

      • Dracul Van Helsing said,

Yes, living history is something very precious. πŸ™‚

So he knows how to rebuild the motor in a Model A truck from memory eh?

        Hope you wrote it down.

That way when America gets hit by an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) that people in industry and government will say they never saw coming (even though they’ve talked about it for years) and all of America’s heavily computerized and GPS tracked and wi-fi laden motorized vehicles will be fried and sizzled and rendered ineffective and immobile, you’ll be able to drive down the roads in a Model A Ford.

      • Hyperion said,

I think Gramps would like nothing better than to supervise me during the rebuild. He’ll tell me how kids these days don’t have any mechanical skill and how there were no stores to whip into and buy a milkshake when he was a kid. At work there was only two breaks a day. Day break and back break. When he finishes his story, I’ll have that Model A Ford purring like a kitten. πŸ˜€

Then we three the Blogoteers should make one that will be remembered for the next 200 odd years! With magic mushrooms touch in it.
