Mountains Blue: A Poem

Mountains Blue: A Poem

Mountains blue
lakes so green
a national park so clean
This is Banff
jewel of the Alberta Rockies
Not far Lake Louise
where British singer Vera Lynn
The songstress of World War II
longed to dance on its silvery banks
And not far from that
Castle Mountain
once called Eisenhower
after World War II
It stands a solid rock
much like that great general
There is Tunnel Mountain
and Mount Rundle
and Cascade Mountain
whose majestic beauty
cascades in view
down the street
of Banff Avenue
There is Banff Hot Springs
and gondola rides
In winter, Banff is
post card Christmas village
come alive
There is Lake Minnewanka
a glacial lake at park’s east end
There is Moraine Lake
and the Valley of the Ten Peaks
south of Lake Louise
whose beauty graces $20 bills
in this Land of the Maple Leaf
Mountains blue
lakes so green
Banff one of Mother Nature’s jewels
waiting to be seen

      Thank you, Sherrie. 🙂

You’d probably love Banff National Park if you saw it with its beautiful blue mountains and sparkling turquoise green lakes.

And you’d probably love the beautiful Saint George’s In The Pines Church where I was baptized as a baby. 🙂

I love living in the mountains!
How are you doing today, Christopher!?

I’m actually doing well today, Carolyn. 🙂

I managed to land a job today.

It’s the first bit of good news I had in 6 years of constant disappointment, tragedy and upheaval since my dad died of cancer 6 years ago.

I must admit – as I may have before – that I’m normally not a fan of poetry of any kind because I have trouble getting it. But yours is just delicious, not only because of the great way in which you fletch the symbols together – natural and impossible to fake or copy-cat – but because it’s so wonderfully relevant.

      Thanks very much, Ana. 🙂

Actually that’s the type of compliment that pleases me the most when it comes to my poems.

When people who don’t normally like poetry enjoy my poems. 🙂

I truly do enjoy them. And CONGRATS ON THE NEW JOB! I found out just 2 minutes after I wrote to you the comment on your last post. I’m so super happy for you, dear Chris!

I see pictures of Banff National Park and the mountains and lakes you mentioned. It makes me want to become a Canadian and live there. I’d be thrilled to have a job emptying trash cans during the week and enjoying one of the most beautiful scenes in the world all year long.
