Wilkie The Cat In New York: A Poem

July 30, 2016 at 12:51 pm (Humour, Literature, Poetry) (, , , )

There with pork on his fork
stood Wilkie The Cat in New York
In the middle of Times Square
looking at the lights so fair
He pulled out a comb and combed his hair
while Mitzi took her time deciding what to wear
when she finally decided, night had given way to day
and Central Park coach horses were home eating hay

Poor Wilkie. He has to learn to plan for Mitzi’s ritual preparations. You can’t hurry a masterpiece. What if Michelangelo finished his work in a day? Perhaps his work would look like the beginning of the abstract period and Dali would have come very late to the scene. 😉

I think that would indeed have been the case, Daniel. LOL ! 😀

I’m starting to get attached to Wilkie and Mitzi’s story. They need their own book next to The Ghost White Salamander and all the cast and crew in Renfield’s gang. And Sherrielock Holmes deserves her own epic. 😀

I think I’ll probably publish a book of Wilkie and Mitzi poems, Daniel.

I think I’ve written about a dozen Wilkie and Mitzi poems in my notebook (a real notebook not a tablet) this past week in order to make myself laugh and not lose my sense of humour at having to cope with homelessness.

That’s awesome, Chris. I know Sherrie will be proud that you are keeping a journal. I think you could document your journey as well. I think the New York Times would publish your muses of your experience interspersed with Wilkie’s adventures. Think about it. 😀 Maybe that’s where your rainbow ends and your pot of gold is found.

Wilkie learned a purr-fect lesson about feminine felines! 😀
I bet Mitzi looked paw-sitively purr-ty when she was finally ready to roam! 😛
    HUGS with cat-titude!!! 😀

I bet the pork is still on the fork until the next day! LOL
Poor Wilkie has to wait that long … hehehe …

    • Dracul Van Helsing said,

Yes, Wilkie has a long time to wait. LOL !

For the next hundred years then??? LOL

        LOL !

That would be a long time. 😀

Wilkie would have to become a vampire or eat some Chinese Supernatural Mushrooms like Sherrielock Holmes did so he could last that long. LOL !

      • ѕнєяяιє ∂є ναℓєяια said,

And still keep that pork meat on his fork as souvenirs then! LOL

      • Dracul Van Helsing said,

It would have to be pork in a can on a fork to last that long. LOL !

      • ѕнєяяιє ∂є ναℓєяια said,

I bet it is already stone age pork ever found in history! LOL

      • Dracul Van Helsing said,

Yes, stone aged pork to be eaten with Beijing’s thousand-year-old eggs. LOL !

      • ѕнєяяιє ∂є ναℓєяια said,

        Very highly toxic that pork.
        Cannot be eaten, anymore.
Unless you are so tired of your life.

      • Dracul Van Helsing said,

Yes, toxic pork is given to red spider monkeys whenever Donald Trump needs a new toupee. 😀

        Hi there, Chris!
Are you at the library now?
What time is it at your place right now?

Here it is nearly midnight. But I am quite wide awake. Reading stuffs on Kindle, got tired eyes and then checking in on WordPress before shutting off for tonight …

I hope you get a good night’s sleep.

        Good morning from Germany, Chris!
I had a weird night … can’t sleep well and felt as if something in the room with me, watching me all night and I got a little scare when all of a sudden my 11 years old came in suddenly around 3 am, saying she has a bad dream and so she slept with me then …

It was an odd night, really … Now, I feel like zombie and very much alive at the same time. Just had my second cup of coffee … And it is 11:03 am. Yup, late breakfast … Gosh I do feel weird for not having a good night sleep …
        ⊙﹏⊙

      • Dracul Van Helsing said,

Wow. That sounds frightening, Sherrie. Feeling someone was watching you in the room and then your daughter had a bad dream.

        Hm. An odd night eh?

Yesterday was an odd day here too.

Someone got stabbed in a fight in the shelter yesterday morning and an ambulance and paramedics had to be called to wheel the fellow away.

Another reason why I wish I could find someone who’d let me stay in their place for awhile until I can find a job and a place of my own.

Then there was a huge storm that hit the city yesterday.

Thunder, lightning, rain and hail followed by flooding.

The bus to take people from downtown back to the shelter was an hour late last night due to flooding in some of the tunnels and roads.

      • ѕнєяяιє ∂є ναℓєяια said,

Someone got stabbed there??? Ugh! Really not a nice thing to experience so close by your own … I hope you still find a little peace sleeping in that place. I pray for your safety as well and hope that sooner you can get out of there.

Yes, these days strange things happened everywhere and there were killings everywhere almost every week and it is really scary to think that one does not feel safe going out to the city anymore. All I think was ‘What If’ you know, that there are those terrorist are every where and you can never know when they strike. Especially now that France is always under attack and now it is in Germany as well … Not a peaceful time to live for some of us …

      • Dracul Van Helsing said,

Thanks very much for your prayers, Sherrie. 🙂

Yes, it wasn’t pleasant to be so close to a stabbing.

I’d like to be in my own place again soon.

Yes and the amount of terrorist attacks all over the world is really frightening.

      • ѕнєяяιє ∂є ναℓєяια said,

I pray that you have your strength still and have courage, be brave and be kind. These are the three things I wish for you right now … Do not let people step on your head, either, or taking advantages of you. Be smart and be wise.

Just have lots of patience and wait until the 90 days are over and then you go and register yourself. In between those time try to find any jobs the least to have a small pocket money and saved some. I pray that the Lord gives you all the blessings you in and in His own time too … Amen!

      • Dracul Van Helsing said,

        Amen.

        Thanks, Sherrie. 🙂
