Mrs. Wallis Simpson: A Poem

(Mrs. Wallis Simpson: A Poem to be sung to the tune of Simon and Garfunkel’s Mrs. Robinson)

Here’s to you Wallis Simpson
Eddie lusts you more than you will know
Oh! Ho! Ho! Ho!
Eddie’s left his throne and gone astray
Way! Hey! Hey! Hey!

Where have you gone, Prince Albert?
Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you
The idea of doing one’s duty seems to be through
Whew! Whew! Whew! Whew!

What’s that you say, Prince Albert?
Eddie’s left the throne and gone away
Way! Hey! Hey! Hey!
God rest you please, Wallis Simpson!
An adulterer must have his way!
Way! Hey! Hey! Hey!

-A poem written by Christopher
Sunday December 11th 2016
On the 80th Anniversary of
King Edward VIII abdicating
the British Throne in lust
for Mrs. Wallis Simpson

Hello, Christopher. I had a nagging feeling on Sunday that December 11 was an auspicious day but I didn’t try to find out. Now I get it. There are conflicting stories about his competence and mental health. History is coloured by so many perspectives.

Yes, history is so full of different perspectives and interpretations.

The 1st hymn they sang at the Church service I attended this past Sunday was Rejoice, The Lord Is King.

I meant to ask the priest after the service but forgot, “Was it just a mere coincidence that they chose that as the first hymn on the 80th Anniversary of King Edward VIII’s abdication?”.

      Thanks very much. 🙂

Wishing you the best as well and may you have a happy and joyous holiday season. 🙂

And no I can’t think of Kings and Queens and Emperors and Empresses without a lot of lust and infidelity and rivalry going on. 😀
