A Time of Madness
Saint Anthony the Great once said,
“A time is coming when men will go mad,
and when they see someone who is not mad,
they will attack him, saying,
you are mad;
you are not like us.”
A woman not wearing a mask in a grocery store
was set upon and beaten by 5 other women (wearing masks)
because she was not wearing a mask.
Of course if these self-righteous bitches
had bothered to ask
It was because she had an underlying medical condition
and a certificate from her doctor
saying she was unable to wear a mask.
But these are not normal times
“Insanity” and “madness” is the new normal
Christ said, “Fear not those who can kill the body
but those who can kill the soul”
A virus can kill the body
but it is madness that can kill the soul.
And in these times, most people show
they prefer madness.
In The Dashwood Forrest Art Gallery in London,
the Syro-Phoenician goddess Atargatis reminded
Dracul Van Helsing, Dashwood Forrest and Renfield R. Renfield:
“Those whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad.”

The mad would get destroyed soon.
Enjoyed the poem. Truth it is.

Thanks very much, Kritika.
Yes, the mad will get destroyed soon.

Tragic times. Sigh. My husband is often a victim of scrutiny too.
Summer last year no one cares whenever he sneezes. This year the pollens are extra hard on him (pollen allergies) so he sneezes a lot and people around looks at him like he’s making a big sin. So annoying.

That would be very annoying. π‘

I think the madness and insanity was a fingernail width below the surface of civility.
Hmmmm. I might use that line I just wrote. LOL!

I think that’s probably true, George.
And the virus has just brought it to the surface.

Christopher, you’ve hit it out of the park once again. An astute post. Exactly right.

Beautifully worded so relevant for present times. I myself paid a hefty fine almost ( 1200 usd) in Dubai for not wearing a mask in my own car. Madness and paranoia a deadly combination. I somehow find people now days more hysterical, angry and ignorant than before. Itβs as if everyone is on the edge. Although a staunch feminist I do feel women are turning more bitter and callous now days.

That’s really something.
Almost being fined for not wearing a mask in one’s own car.
Madness and paranoia are indeed everywhere.

However on the positive note the strictness around masks did help to keep the infections at bay. Situation is contained here now, everything is open.

That’s in Dubai?

Yes all things are open since a month, restaurants, pools and gym…

Dubai then is definitely doing well compared with the rest of the Middle East.

Yes comparatively much better.

I don’t think Saudi Arabia is letting in any pilgrims from other countries for this year’s hajj pilgrimage.

Thatβs what Iβve heard.

Yes, a lot of events have been downscaled in this year of 2020 if not outright cancelled.
