The Shy Stegosaurus of Cricket Creek: A Poem

When I was a boy, there was a book that I thought was rather neat
It was The Shy Stegosaurus of Cricket Creek
George was the introverted dinosaur’s name
A great prehistoric fella not seeking fame
He wrecked a small passenger airplane on the ground
mistaking it for pterodactyl- a hypothesis unsound
He met 2 kids and had exciting adventures
He never ran into a T-Rex’s Polygrip dentures
And finally one day he said good-bye
The two children started to cry
And deep into the canyon and off into the sunset he went
Prehistory had met modern in a time well spent.

The Psychiatrist T-Rex: A Poem

The Psychiatrist T-Rex: A Poem

In ages quite Cretaceous
when world was large and spacious
there roamed around the globe
with a cerebral front lobe
a T-Rex psychiatrist
with less problems than
a triceratops podiatrist
The psychiatrist T-Rex was called Oedipus
on whose rock for a couch lay Sisyphus
whose struggle was an uphill battle
that would not be ended by death’s dark rattle
Of course Oedipus had many patients galore
whose sexual problems often came to the fore
“I’m a-Freud so,” Oedipus would often say,
“your problem could be cured by one good lay.”
But for camel humped dinosaur Deinocheirus
saurian babes would look at the hump and say, “Please spare us.”
No humps for this humpster
and he wound up in the dumpster.
Another failed attempt to cure by Oedipus Rex
one would think of his psychiatry as a curse and a hex
because despite his beard and large specs
his patients’ neuroses continued to vex.
Finally just in the nick of time
as Oedipus made lemon out of lime
a comet came hurtling from space and struck the earth
giving prehistoric psychiatry its death
but the world a chance for a second birth.

T-Rex Find: A Poem

T-Rex Find: A Poem

It was the most unusual dinosaur bone
a T-Rex with an iPhone
the whimsical carnivore
not wishing to appear a bore
had taken a selfie
like Uncle Alfie
he backed up without looking behind
silly creature with silly mind
and while doing his monologue of schtick and corn
backed right into a triceratops horn
that’s why this T-Rex became extinct before you were born.
